Dinky is a sweet boy but he has some shyness to overcome. He was a breeder surrender and didn't have much human contact so his experience with humans thus far is questionable. When he first arrived into foster care his foster mom gave him plenty of space before trying to approach him. After about a week she began picking him up and now he follows her around everywhere and seeks attention/affection and even jumps up to sleep in bed with her. He will take some time to warm up to new people but he is NOT a fear biter...you can pick him up (if you can catch him) and it was only with repeatedly picking him up, giving him affection, and putting him safely back down did he learn it was OK and nothing bad would happen. He recently went for a grooming and he did great but he was not happy to be there...haha...and he was a bit scared. Until Dinky learns to trust more and builds some confidence we are not sure he would thrive in a home that was overly bustling, had small children or has many visitors. Dinky has only been in foster care for a couple of weeks and he has already come a long way so we know he has tons of potential for the right home. He loves to play with toys and he usually curls up on top of his foster sister (a 90lb lab) to nap during the day...he plays well with the little dogs in the house too. Dinky will need some quiet and patience initially to adjust to any new home, but trust me it is worth the time and little work it will take to gain his trust. He also isn't a dog that will make a great "first impression", meaning he isn?t a dog that is going to come running up to you asking to be pet or begging for treats...he has had a crappy start to life and needs to work on some confidence...8) If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website at www.castawaypetrescue.org and fill out an adoption application.
